Web Browsers
- Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox: Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox are excellent choices for internet browsers and are recommended by the Resnet Consultants.
- Opera Good IE replacement browser.
- Microsoft
Internet Explorer: IE is part of Windows and as such
can be updated from Windows Update. (Windows Update is
only available on IE 5 or later.)
Email Clients
- Mozilla
Thunderbird Thunderbird is a very popular e-mail client
which the Resnet consultants recommend.
- Outlook
Express Windows default e-mail client. (Windows Update
is only available on IE 5 or later.)
SSH/Telnet Clients
- Putty: PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. It is written and maintained primarily by Simon Tatham.
McAfee Anti Virus Software
- In an effort to better campus network security, McAfee VirusScan is now available free of charge to all Resnet customers at https://secure.mtu.edu.
Students will need their ISO passwords to download the software.
