Residence Life Network (Resnet) — Machine Specifications

MTU Telcom Customer Service recommends that students purchasing a new personal computer for use on Resnet consider the following specifications:

To use Resnet, you must have a Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer. We also require that you use an Operating System that supports the TCP/IP protocol. Resnet consultants suggests using Windows XP, Windows Vista or any distribution of Linux, but support any of the following Operating Systems: Windows 2000/XP/Vista, and Mac OS X, and all distributions of Linux.

Your computer will interface with the network using a Category 5 (CAT5) patch cable. These cables must be provided by you, the user. They can be purchased on campus or in consumer electronic stores.
